<image:caption>The MVRG Weed Committee was formed in 1999 to administer privately raised funds and to provide private landowners with information, equipment, education, and support to carry out the eradication of weeds in the Madison Valley. The committee focuses specifically on the elimination of noxious weeds on both private and public lands through education and cost-share incentives. To achieve a noxious weed-free environment, the committee works closely with local, county, state, and national weed control organizations. The committee works to accomplish noxious weed-free lands by producing and utilizing a yearly plan that emphasizes education, fund-raising, and the promotion of integrated management practices.</image:caption>

In the past, Noah has worked on commercial ranches and has worked as a range technician for several state and federal agencies including the NRCS, BLM, and NPS. Noah is also currently pursuing a graduate degree at MSU and has been doing research at MSU’s Red Bluff Research Ranch in Norris since 2017. His research focuses on grazing management, cattle behavior, and winter cattle nutrition. In 2020, MSU hired Noah to manage the Red Bluff Research Ranch where he currently lives. In his spare time, Noah can be found dancing, playing music, studying history, or working on a never-ending list of projects. Given his unique background and experience with livestock production, rangeland management, and research, Noah believes he brings a different perspective and is excited to help where he can to protect ranching and the land it depends upon.</image:caption>

She and her husband, Ben, worked on various ranches early in their marriage and then moved to Chile for 5 years where they grew cranberries and made cranberry concentrate to be shipped worldwide. After raising their 2 children, Sammy and Tyler, in Colorado and teaching Yoga for decades, she and her husband moved to Montana in 2020 to fulfill their family’s dream of living more closely connected to the land. They now raise Highland Cattle at the ST Bar Ranch in McAllister and provide their natural beef directly to a restaurant in Bozeman. <image:title>Biocontrol - What We Do. Each year the crew meets with many private landowners to assess previous releases, prioritize future releases and evaluate noxious weed distribution. They collect and release thousands of these valuable insects that attack noxious weeds annually. The crew surveys and monitors several sites and transects that are providing valuable information about insect populations and vegetation changes over time. Additionally the MCBC is participating in some of the very first trials in Montana to inoculate Canada thistle populations with a detrimental rust. We are proud to be a part of this important research into a new and exciting biological control method. Biological Control agents for Spotted knapweed, Leafy spurge, Canada thistle, Dalmatian and Yellow toadflax have been utilized in Madison County.</image:title>
